Miami Beach Bar Association Law Day Luncheon
The Miami Beach Bar Association hosted its annual Law Day Luncheon recognizing students for outstanding essays and posters based on this year’s Law Day theme, “The Rule of Law and the American Dream.”
As our nation approaches its 250th anniversary, the program highlighted the importance of civic education, individual rights, and the principle that no person is above the law.
Congratulations to all of the students recognized for their hard work and creativity, and thank you to the Miami Beach Bar Association, sponsors, teachers, and families for supporting this meaningful event.
Cuban American Bar Association Judicial Luncheon
Each candidate had 30 seconds to introduce themselves and answer two questions drawn at random. I showed up and answered both, directly. Showing up prepared matters.
LAW.COM later covered the event and highlighted Judge Perez-Medina’s comments on judicial philosophy and experience.
“Know the law, follow the law, treat everyone with respect, and you rule with confidence.”

AJC Judge Learned Hand Award Dinner
It was a privilege to attend the American Jewish Committee Miami and Broward’s 2026 Judge Learned Hand Award Dinner honoring Robert C. Gilbert.
Congratulations to Robert C. Gilbert on this well-deserved honor and for his continued leadership and contributions to our community.
The evening highlighted AJC’s important work supporting Jewish communities around the world and combating antisemitism. The program also featured a special presentation with former Congressman Ted Deutch and Tom Nides.
It was a meaningful evening focused on leadership, community, and the continued defense of democratic values and human rights.
Bring Your Child to Work Day
I was proud to participate in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit’s Take Your Child to Work Day, a countywide event held across courthouses in Miami-Dade.
Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to learn about the judicial system, observe courtroom proceedings, and participate in a mock trial, the Case of the Stolen Mascot Costume. Taking on roles as prosecutors, defense attorneys, and jurors, they experienced firsthand how the justice system works.
Programs like this provide a meaningful introduction to civic responsibility and the importance of fairness, respect, and the rule of law. It was rewarding to see so many young students engaged, curious, and eager to learn.
Congratulations to the City of West Miami’s newly sworn-in leadership.
It had the pleasure of attending the swearing-in ceremony for Mayor Eric Diaz-Padron, Commissioner Gustavo J. Ceballos, Commissioner Juan M. Blanes, and Commissioner Elect Victoria De La Torre.
The ceremony was a meaningful celebration of public service and commitment to the community. It was especially nice to see retiring Commissioner Luciano L. Suarez recognized and honored for his years of service with the keys to the city.
Wishing all of you continued success as you serve the residents of West Miami.
It was an honor to be present and to share in the moment with so many members of the community.
Congratulations to the Haitian Lawyers Association
I had the privilege of attending the Haitian Lawyers Association’s Annual Scholarship Gala, which recognized deserving students and installed its new board of directors.
Each scholarship recipient shared a short video presentation before receiving their award, offering a glimpse into their hard work, goals, and commitment to their education. It was a meaningful reminder of the importance of supporting the next generation.
Congratulations to the students on their achievements and to the new board on taking on this important leadership role. The continued work of this organization makes a lasting impact on our community.
Honoring the Legacy of Brigade 2506
I had the privilege of attending the opening of the Brigade 2506 Museum, marking the 65th anniversary of the Bay of Pigs invasion.
This was a meaningful event recognizing the courage, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of the brigadistas. Their commitment to freedom continues to inspire generations.
This event holds special meaning for my family, as my wife’s uncle, Ruben De Quesada, was among those who served in Brigade 2506.
Congratulations to everyone involved in preserving this important chapter of history.
Connecting with Our Community
I attended the Hialeah Fire Department vs. Hialeah Police Department barbecue competition, where I had the opportunity to meet with firefighters, first responders, and members of our community.
University of Miami Student Mock Trial Finals
I had the privilege of volunteering as a judge for a University of Miami mock trial final at the Richard E. Gerstein Justice Building. The students were outstanding, well-prepared, professional, and impressive in their advocacy.

Miami-Dade FAWL Women’s Leadership Event
I had the pleasure of attending the Miami-Dade FAWL Women’s Leadership event, which focused on the importance of getting involved with The Florida Bar and local bar associations. The panel featured outstanding leaders in our legal community who shared valuable insights on professional growth, mentorship, and service. It was a meaningful opportunity to engage with colleagues and support initiatives that strengthen the legal profession in Miami-Dade County.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Graduation – Class 159
I had the privilege of attending the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue graduation ceremony for Class 159. This was a special and proud moment for our family, as Jeanpaul Beyaert, a member of our family, achieved his long-standing goal of becoming a firefighter. It was an honor to witness the dedication, discipline, and commitment of these graduates as they begin their service to our community. We are incredibly proud of Jeanpaul and congratulate all the members of Class 159 on this important achievement.
